HOW TO PRAY THE ROSARY 1. Sign of the cross. 2. Apostles' Creed. 3. We announce the day’s first mystery. 4. Our Father 10 Hail Mary’s Glory be to the Father 5. We continue until completing the five mysteries of the day. 6. Prayer to the Virgin.
THE SIGN OF THE CROSS In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. The Apostles’ Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, where he is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. Amen. THE GLORY BE Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. The Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. HAIL MARY Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Sorrowful Mysteries 1st The Agony in the Garden Jesus, you have come to release us humans from our sins and our guilt. You knew, that you would have to suffer. You prayed intensively in order that your Father gives you strength to accept his will. Teach me how to pray, so that in difficult moments of my life I can say: “I accept what God, our Father, sends me. I have faith in his power.” 2nd The Scourging at the Pillar
Jesus, they tied you up to a pillar and beat you. You did not moan. You bore your pain for all of us. You offered it to your Father for our mistakes and our sins. When I am proud, headstrong and lazy, when I only think of myself, then I am tied up inside. Jesus, give me your strength so that I am released from everything that separates me from you. 3rd The Crowning with Thorns
Jesus, you allowed them to crown you with thorns, to beat and to taunt you. You know, through that pain you will help many people to overcome pride and evil. Please help me understand that behind everything that happens in life -even behind pain- there is our gracious Father´s plan, who wants our best and who turns everything into something good. 4th The Carrying of the Cross Jesus, loaded with the heavy cross you walk your way. On the Stations of the Cross you meet Mary. Your mother´s glance helps you not to give up and keep on walking step by step. Mother, I am your child, too. Do not leave me, when fear and sorrow depress me. Give me strenght with your glance to begin again and to fulfill my tasks out of love towards Jesus, even though it may be hard for me. 5th The Crucifixion Mary, when Jesus is lost, you tirelessly search for Him for three days. Lord and Redeemer, you are nailed on the cross. You let it happen and you suffer badly, because you love us. Take everything that puts pressure on me. I give it to you. I want to unify my sorrow with yours. Turn all the pain and all the worries in my life into love and peace for my friends, my country and the whole world.
